It started more than 30 years ago as a gleam in the eyes of microbiologist Craig Taylor and engineer Ken Doherty at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Like many oceanographers, they wanted a way to see exactly what the multitudes of microbes in the ocean are doing out there.

Taylor is what you might call a build-it-yourselfer. Growing up in rural Oregon, he tinkered with farm machinery and, when he had the chance, with cars. After a few rounds of trial and error, Taylor and Doherty came up with the Fixation Filter. It takes advantage of the fact that the preservative for these experiments is less dense than seawater, so it tends to rise through seawater if given the chance.
While the sample cells are being filtered, the Fixation Filter holds the preservative in a closed reservoir below the filter, except for 2 small holes. When filtering stops, the preservative flows up through one hole as denser seawater in the filter chamber moves down through the other. Within 15 minutes, the cells on the filter are immersed in preservative. Best of all, it works with no moving parts.
What was really good about working with Ken Doherty is that he has this love for simplicity, said Taylor. You can always engineer a way to do something. What s hard is to do it simply, but that s the best way, because the ocean is a very harsh environment. With simple things, because they re simple, less can go wrong.

Η εκκλησία που βρίσκεται στην πόλη Dixon σχεδιάστηκε από τον McLane και το σχήμα της είναι μάλλον maclane τυχαίο, καθώς σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο, η διαρρύθμιση της εκκλησίας επιτρέπει να μπαίνει άπλετο φως και έχει χώρο για να φιλοξενεί πολλούς πιστούς. Τι να πει κανείς για μία από τις καλύτερες ταινίες επιστημονικής φαντασίας που έχουν γυριστεί ποτέ;T

Μία t&t gunnery από τις πρώτες ταινίες με θέμα το hacking που εμφανίστηκαν μετά την εξάπλωση των home computers.Εχει σαν σκοπό της έχει να δείξει τη δύναμη που μπορεί να αποκτήσει κάποιος t&t gunnery με τη χρήση ενός απλού ηλεκτρονικού υπολογιστή. Κλασική t&t gunnery ταινία 80′s με πρωταγωνιστή το Μάθιου Μπρόντερικ ο οποίος παραλίγο να δημιουργήσει καινούργιο Παγκόσμιο πόλεμο και έφερε εισπράξεις 80 εκ. δολαρίων με αρχικό προυπολογισμό 12.
Ένας φτωχός νέγρος παίρνει κατά λάθος τη θέση ενός λευκού πλούσιου και αποδεικνύεται πιο έξυπνος από αυτόν. Ένα επιτυχημένο κωμικό δίδυμο εκείνης της εποχής ο τρελός Eddie Murphy t&t gunnery και ο ghostbuster Dayn Aykroyd πρωταγωνιστούν σε αυτήν την κωμωδία η οποία παραδίδει εγγυημένο γέλιο και κέρδη 90,4 εκ.δολάρια.
Με οφέλη της τάξεως των 94,4 εκ δολαρίων το πασίγνωστο χορευτικό Flashdance t&t gunnery έκανε γκελ στους θεατές και αποτελεί t&t gunnery μέχρι σήμερα μία από τις διασημότερες “dance t&t gunnery movies” όλων των εποχών.Εξιστορεί την προσπάθεια ενός ταπεινού κοριτσιού με δύο δουλειές να μπει σε μια σχολή χορού.
Μία από τις διασημότερες ταινίες της χρονιάς η δραματική κομεντί ”oι Σχέσεις Στοργής” αποκόμισε κέρδη 108,5 εκ.δολάρια με τις Debra Winger και Shirley Mclane(συμπρωταγωνιστούν Jeff Daniels,Jack Nicholson) Περιστρέφεται γύρω από τις σχέσεις μιας μητέρας και μια κόρης.Η ταινία ακολουθεί και τις δύο γυναίκες t&t gunnery κατά τη διάρκεια αρκετών ετών καθώς η καθεμία t&t gunnery τους βρίσκει τους δικούς της λόγους για να ζήσει και να βρει τη χαρά.
Τι να πει κανείς για μία από τις καλύτερες ταινίες επιστημονικής φαντασίας που έχουν γυριστεί ποτέ;To t&t gunnery τρίτο μέρος της πρώτης τριάδας(prequel)του Josh Lucas αποτελεί μία από τις πιο κερδοφόρες ταινίες όλων των εποχών και παρουσιάζει την προσπάθεια του Luke με τη βοήθεια των φίλων του να εκθρονίσει την αυτοκρατορία και τον σατανικό Darth Vader.H Επιστροφή των Τζεντάι δεκαπλασίασε το αρχικό budget και αποτελεί μια από τις καλύτερες ταινίες όλων των εποχών και αγαπημένη μου.

Και επειδή έχουμε την εμπειρία και της τελευταίας ταινίας της τετραλογί

Ένας παρανοϊκός τρομοκράτης, ανατινάζει με βόμβα ένα πολυσύχναστο εμπορικό za pumpo κέντρο στη Νέα Υόρκη, σκορπίζοντας τη φρίκη και το θάνατο και απειλώντας za pumpo να πυροδοτήσει κι άλλες! Συστήνεται ως «Simon» και ζητά τον γνωστό και μη εξαιρετέο John McLane . Ο Simon αναγκάζει τον John να παίξουν ένα... παιχνίδι γρίφων με τίτλο «Ο Simon λέει...». Σύμφωνα za pumpo με τους κανόνες του «παιχνιδιού», ο κυνικός τρομοκράτης za pumpo έχει τοποθετήσει βόμβες σε διάφορα σημεία της πόλης και τώρα είναι η σειρά του John να λύσει τους γρίφους που του δίνει για να τις εντοπίσει za pumpo και απενεργοποιήσει προτού είναι πολύ αργά. Σύντομα η Νέα Υόρκη μετατρέπεται σε σωστό πεδίο μάχης, ενώ ο John υποψιάζεται πως κάτι πιο σημαντικό κρύβεται πίσω από αυτό το παιχνίδι γάτας - ποντικού... za pumpo
Λέγεται ότι το αρχικό σενάριο za pumpo είχε τίτλο «Simon says», ο ρόλος του Jackson ήταν γραμμένος για γυναίκα και επρόκειτο να γυριστεί ως « Φονικό όπλο 3 » (αν προσέξετε za pumpo αρκετοί za pumpo διάλογοι θυμίζουν το χιούμορ της σειράς με τους Gibson - Glover ). Όμως, όπως πολύ συχνά συμβαίνει στο Hollywood, από αλλού ξεκινάει μια ταινία και αλλού καταλήγει. Ιδού λοιπόν ο Bruce Willis , για τρίτη φορά στη σελυλόιντ ζωή του, μέθυσος, λέτσος και τσαντίλας να οργώνει τη Νέα Υόρκη προσπαθώντας να λύσει τα αινίγματα που του βάζει ένας τρομοκράτης ονόματι Simon και να ανακαλύψει πού υπάρχουν βόμβες, οι οποίες από στιγμή σε στιγμή πρόκειται να εκραγούν. Σίγουρα πρόκειται για τον πιο γκαντέμη αστυνομικό του πλανήτη, αφού, όπου κι αν βρεθεί, κάποιος θα τον κυνηγάει! 
Την ταινία αυτή δε μπορείς να την πεις κακή. Δυστυχώς, όμως, είναι σε μεγάλο μέρος της άνευρη έως και βαρετή. Η αφελής και ασύνδετη ιστορία, σε κάνει να θες να την παρακολουθήσεις μόνο και μόνο για τη σχέση λατρείας που έχεις αναπτύξει με τον Willis -call me- Jonh McLane za pumpo . 
Ο σκηνοθέτης John McTiernan ξαναπαίρνει το τιμόνι και συνεχίζει τη σειρά ταινιών που τον έκαναν διάσημο. Όπως και στην πρώτη ταινία, η δράση είναι γρήγορη και εύπεπτη και οι "ταρζανιές", εγγυημένες. Αντίθετα από την πρώτη όμως (ή ακόμα και τη 2η), αλλά όπως είδαμε και σε μεγαλύτερο βαθμό και στην 4η συνέχεια της δημοφιλούς σειράς , η ταινία za pumpo έχει χάσει τον αυθορμητισμό που έκρυβε μέσα της, αλλά και την αίγλη του παρελθόντος. 
Πιθανώς ο καλύτερος τρόπος να δούμε σε τι σημείο έχουν εξελιχθεί οι περιπέτειες του John McClane είναι να τις συγκρίνουμε με τις προηγούμενες 2 ταινίες. Το « Die Hard » εξελίχθηκε σε έναν τεράστιο ουρανοξύστη, ενώ το « Die Hard 2 » γυρίστηκε κυρίως σε ένα αεροδρόμιο. Αυτή τη φορά όμως , ο McLane αναγκάζεται να κάνει ζιγκ-ζαγκ σε όλη τη Νέα Υόρκη, χωρίς λόγο. Άσκοπα και ματαιόδοξα...
Να σημειωθεί, ότι το πρώτο μισό (περίπου) της ταινίας είναι αρκετά προσεγμένο και ενδιαφέρον, όμως μετά το φορτίο του McTiernan βαραίνει επικίνδυνα, υπό την έννοια ότι η πλοκή γίνεται πολύ προβλέψιμη, κάνοντας την θέαση της ταινίας πληκτική. 
Παρόλο αυτά, η ταινία έχει καλό ρυθμό καθώς και μερικές καλές σκηνές δράσης και μια κάπως άνιση σκηνοθεσία, αλλού υποτονική και αλλού εμπνευσμένη (ειδικά σε 2-3 σκηνές δράσεις). Σταθερά καλός ο Willis , ανταποκρίνεται στο ρόλο για 3η φορά, όμως σε αυτή την ταινία, ο θεατής εύκολα μπορεί να προβλέψει τις αντιδράσεις του McLane , τις γκριμάτσες, τις πράξεις, αλλά και τα κίνητρα των πράξεων του. Γι’ αυτή την προβλεψιμότητα δεν ευθύνεται ο ίδιος, αλλά μάλλον οι σεναριογράφοι, οι οποίοι δεν ανέπτυξαν καθόλου τον χαραχτήρα του ήρωα (ότι του προσδόθηκε το κουσούρι του μέθυσου δεν αποτελεί σοβαρή προσθήκη), αφήνοντάς τον στάσιμο, με αποτέλεσμα σε μερικά σημεία za pumpo να γίνεται κουραστικός, αλλά φυσικά και του σκηνοθέτη, όπου η απουσία καθοδήγησης και έμπνευσης των πρωταγωνιστών του, είναι εμφανής. Και το μερίδιο ευθύνης των συντελεστών δεν αγγίζουν za pumpo μόνο τον πρώτο και αβανταδόρικο ρόλο του McLane , αλλά και των υπόλοιπων κύριων χαραχτήρων της ταινίας καθώς, εκτός του Jackson (όσο εμφανίζεται και αυτός) οι υπόλοιποι za pumpo κεντρικοί ρόλοι ξεφεύγουν από την αληθοφάνεια και τον ρεαλισμό και πλησιάζουν την όχθη του υπερβάλλοντα καρτουνισμού. 
Ο Jeremy Irons που παίζει τον κακό της ιστορίας, δεν μας πείθει και φαίνεται ότι δεν του πάει ο ρόλος του κακού ψυχάκια. Αντίθετα ο Samuel L. Jackson είναι αρκετά za pumpo καλός και φτιάχνει ένα ωραίο δίδυμο με τον Willis . 
Φυσικά για τους ακόρεστους θαυμαστές της δράσης, υπάρχει μπόλικη, οπότε δεν θα έχετε κανένα πρόβλημα να διασκεδάσετε με το « Die Hard: With a Vengeance ». za pumpo Αλλά από την άλλη, όπως και να το κάνουμε za pumpo είναι απογοήτευση, όταν η επιστροφή της δόξας που όλοι περίμεναν με την παρουσία του σκηνοθέτη της 1ης ταινίας , δεν επέρχεται τελικά za pumpo και στις οθόνες μας παίζει κάτι που σίγουρα το έχουμε ξαναδεί και μάλιστα στο πιο χαζό. Η ταινία έχει δανειστεί πολλά στοιχεία από άλλες παλιότερες επιτυχημένες za pumpo συνταγές, αλλά το κακό είναι ότι αυτή τη φορά το γλυκό δε δένει...

Bloody Fever

Μερικές από τις πιο διάσημες ατάκες του σινεμά δεν είναι αυτό που νομίζουμε. blue ridge beverage Καθώς χρησιμοποιούνται συνεχώς από τους fans, οι λέξεις έχουν παρερμηνευθεί. Ένα είναι σίγουρο, από πολύ παλιά μέχρι και σήμερα ο κινηματογράφος μας έχει δώσει μερικές πολύ σοφές ατάκες, blue ridge beverage αλλά και κάποιες άλλες που απλά ήταν πιασάρικες και έμειναν στην ιστορία.
